Explained: Why did the Champions Trophy-winning Indian team wear white jackets after final in Dubai?
FirstpostAfter defeating New Zealand by four wickets in the final in Dubai, the Indian team was presented with the iconic white jackets by BCCI president Roger Binny before captain Rohit Sharma was presented with the trophy by ICC chairman Jay Shah. The Indian team was presented with white jackets after their triumph over New Zealand in the final of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in Dubai. And among the highlights of the evening at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium was the Indian players wearing the iconic white jackets over their blue kits for the first time in over a decade, with the MS Dhoni-led side having worn the same jackets in seventh edition in 2013. However, the white jackets worn by members of the title-winning team would become a permanent fixture only in 2009, when Australia became the first, and till date only, team to win back-to-back titles by defeating New Zealand in the final.
