International Mother Language Day promotes the existence of multilingualism in societies and aims to preserve traditional knowledge and cultures through sustainable methods. International Mother Language Day is observed across the world on 21 February to highlight the significance of linguistic diversity and multiculturalism. History Bangladesh had first come up with the idea to celebrate International Mother Language Day. International Mother Language Day was then celebrated for the first time on 21 February, 2000 and has been observed throughout the world since then.
