Ravens suspend Diontae Johnson one game after he refuses to take field vs. Eagles

The Baltimore Ravens have issued a one-game suspension to recently acquired wide receiver Diontae Johnson for refusing to take the field in their Week 13 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. “We have made the difficult decision to suspend Diontae Johnson for our upcoming game against the New York Giants for conduct detrimental to the team,” Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta wrote in a released statement. Following Johnson’s refusal to take the field against Philadelphia, Ravens coach John Harbaugh gave some vague comments about the receiver’s status with the team. “I know that’s not the answer you want, but that’s the best I can do in fairness to everybody right now.” GO DEEPER Ravens' John Harbaugh mum on Diontae Johnson's status with team Harbaugh declined a follow-up question about whether Johnson would remain on the roster, saying, “We’ll just work it out, see where we’re at over the next few days this week.” While the Ravens’ offense has managed just fine without Johnson — the team currently leads the league in EPA dropback per play while quarterback Lamar Jackson leads the league in adjusted yards per attempt — it could certainly use depth at receiver amid its push for an AFC North title and beyond.
