
Juvenile Justice Law Tends To "Homogenise" Children With Different Behavioural Patterns: Orissa High Court CJ Muralidhar Calls For Reform In Approach
Live LawThe Orissa High Court, in collaboration with the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Odisha and UNICEF, has organised a Regional Consultation Program on Effective Implementation of Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 on Saturday. Chief Justice of Orissa High Court Dr. Justice S. Muralidhar spoke on the occasion and highlighted certain issues regarding children. He highlighted that whenever we talk of children, we talk about a large group of different ages, different genders, who are grappling with life in different stages and the law tends to homogenise this entire lot as if they have to be treated in a similar way. He said that in this arena of discussions of Juvenile Justice Act, we must encourage children's voices and find out how they would like to be treated.
