Army unveils Chhatrapati Shivaji statue at 14,300 feet near India-China border
India TodayThe Indian Army has unveiled a statue of 17th-century Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji at an altitude of 14,300 feet in Pangong Tso in Ladakh, near the India-China border. The inauguration ceremony was held on Thursday and was led by Lieutenant General Hitesh Bhalla, who is the General Commanding Officer of Fire and Fury Corps, and Colonel of the Maratha Light Infantry, the Army said in a statement. "His installation at Pangong Tso serves as a morale booster for troops and a testament to India’s historical and contemporary military strength," the Army said in a statement. "The unveiling marks a pivotal moment in Ladakh’s modern history, intertwining the timeless spirit of a legendary ruler with the resolute determination of a nation safeguarding its borders," the Army added.
