Case Study: Bengal students left in lurch as funds for tablets meant for them misused

The scam involving the diversion of funds meant for tablets and smartphones for students in West Bengal has left multiple schools and families in distress. "We submitted the required documents two months ago, but despite multiple follow-ups and document resubmissions, 31 students from our school have yet to receive the funds," Khatun explained. So far, at least 10 cases have been registered across various police stations in Kolkata, revealing a widespread fraud involving the hacking of the West Bengal Education Department’s portal. The West Bengal Police have arrested 10 people in connection with the scam, but the scale of the fraud appears to be much larger, with hundreds of students still waiting for their funds.
