The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday allowed the bail application of one Aley Hasan Khan, stated to be a close aide of former MLA from Samajwadi Party, Azam Khan, while noting that his criminal history started only after a change in the State Government in 2019. Accordingly, the Court said, "Keeping in view the nature of the offence, argument advanced on behalf of the parties, spreading of novel corona virus in jails, evidence on record regarding complicity of the accused, larger mandate of the Article 21 of the Constitution of India and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, let the applicant involved in the aforesaid crime be released on bail on his furnishing a personal bond and two sureties each in the like amount to the satisfaction of the court concerned". On the State's contention that the Applicant was a history sheeter, the Court said that the cases against him were registered only after a change in State's political power from SP to BJP in 2019.
