Network Ten lawyer says she did not suggest Lisa Wilkinson amend Logies speech because she believed it was 'entirely consistent' with position on Brittany Higgins

A lawyer for Network Ten has told the Federal Court she did not suggest high-profile journalist Lisa Wilkinson amend a Logies acceptance speech because she thought she should keep a "consistent" narrative about her interview with Brittany Higgins. The court today heard from Network Ten senior lawyer Tasha Smithies, about whether the network should pay Ms Wilkinson's independent legal costs. Network Ten defends Logies speech Ms Smithies told the court she reviewed, gave legal advice on, and approved the Logies speech on behalf of Network Ten before it was given. Ms Wilkinson gave evidence yesterday that she had "begged" Network Ten to confirm publicly they had approved the speech when her reputation in the media was being "trashed" over it.
