Telangana High Court imposes hefty fine on former BRS MLA for concealing German citizenship

Hyderabad: Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy of the Telangana High Court imposed a significant fine of Rs 30 lakhs on Dr Chennamaneni Ramesh, a former MLA from the BRS party who represented the Vemulawada Assembly constituency. The court found that Ramesh had concealed his German citizenship. Srinivas had filed a petition challenging Ramesh's Indian citizenship and had also approached the Union home ministry with the same concern. Despite holding German citizenship, Ramesh had travelled to Germany multiple times and served as the MLA for the Vemulawada constituency.
