Rocket Rundown: Michael McNiven happy to be back, while Keith Kinkaid shows frustration being left behind
New York TimesAs an intense Laval Rocket practice wound down, Keith Kinkaid approached head coach Joël Bouchard to discuss his situation. “The guy is frustrated and it’s affecting his play,” said Bouchard. “It just feels good to be back.” He’s been waiting for this opportunity since he was unceremoniously dumped into the ECHL, where he spent time with three different teams, none of which were particularly good. “It’s an opportunity that I’m ready for,” said McNiven about the possibility of starting Wednesday night’s game against the Utica Comets. We won’t know for sure until tomorrow morning.” Things can change, but seeing as Kinkaid started the Rocket’s previous outing, the start, which would be his first in the AHL since April 13, 2019, should presumably go to McNiven.
