Western Desert football teams fight for finals glory in one of the country's most remote leagues
ABCKyver Giles barrels through a cloud of red dust and sunlight, thumping a football into the dirt as two dogs nip at his heels. Coach Isaac Bates Junior hopes the Wanarn Crows can win this year. "People were really sad to see their team not playing finals," Bates Junior says. Coach Isaac Bates Junior's young son also pulls on the team colours. Ngaanyatjarra Council's new communities' sports coordinator Samantha Darby hopes to bring more West Australian Football League scouts to the region in coming seasons, to offer development pathways to emerging players.
