Goffin broke the 20-year-old Spaniard twice to take the first set and led 3-1 in the second before Alcaraz fought back to take the match to a super tiebreak 10/8 after falling 4-0 behind. The victory drew Spain level in the tie after Elise Mertens beat Rebeka Masarova 7-6, 2-6, 10/5 in the opening women’s singles.
