DCW chief Swati Maliwal demands justice for 7-year-old girl raped, murdered in Delhi
India TodayAfter the body of a seven-year-old girl, who was brutally raped and murdered in New Delhi's Nihal Vihar area, was recovered from a pile of garbage in a park, Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal has issued a notice to the Joint Commissioner of Police seeking reasons for police inaction on the missing child's complaint filed by the girl's father. The notice also demanded a copy of the complete CCTV footage of Nihal Vihar Police Station from the night of February 10 as well as details of steps that were taken to search for the missing girl. To find out the extent of the problem of missing children in Nihal Vihar area, DCW has also asked for the number of children that have gone missing from the area since January 2018. Reminding him of his speech a few days ago where PM Modi had said that rapists were being given capital punishment within days of the crime being committed, Maliwal asked him how soon will this seven-year-old girl get justice.
