Budget 2025: Should Nirmala Sitharaman focus on boosting consumption?

The Reserve Bank of India also lowered its real GDP growth forecast for 2024-25 to 6.6%, citing global uncertainties, volatile commodity prices, and fragmented economic conditions. DELOITTE'S KEY EXPECTATION FROM BUDGET 2025 Deloitte has outlined three main expectations for Budget 2025 that could help boost private consumption and address economic concerns: Higher income tax exemptions - Deloitte suggests raising the basic income tax exemption limit under the old tax regime from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh. Targeted tax incentives for rural markets and innovation - To enhance rural demand, Deloitte proposes a Rs 10,000 crore FMCG Rural Growth Fund to improve distribution networks and offer tax rebates for affordable rural product lines.
