ABCWhen Renea Johnson laughs it feels like the sun has warmed a cold room. "I've had people just strip down to their underwear and run around the garage and try everything on and have so much fun," Renea says. As well as providing free clothing, Renae says the swap shop, which also pops up at queer events, provides gender-affirming items such as binders, "knitted knockers" — handmade breast prostheses — and packers. "We've found that op-shop spaces and clothing spaces are really fantastic support for trans and gender-diverse people as they navigate how they feel in their bodies and their clothing and their styles," Son Vivienne, CEO of Transgender Victoria, says.
