James Valentine flooded with messages of support after sharing news of his oesophageal cancer

ABC

In short: James Valentine has been flooded by messages from well-wishers, after sharing news of his oesophageal cancer diagnosis. There's been an outpouring of messages of support for ABC Radio Sydney presenter James Valentine after Thursday's announcement that he is taking time off-air for oesophageal cancer treatment. "I grew up with James on the radio — our extended family Whatsapp chat just exploded yesterday afternoon, almost in grief," Mr Minns told ABC Radio Sydney. A St Vincent's Hospital nurse and long-time listener texted in to tell Valentine he was in excellent hands with "Dr Doug" and the team. "I'm going to make sure I'm fully recovered and my stomach is going to stay attached to my neck before I attempt broadcasting again — wouldn't want it to come loose mid-show," he said.
