HC extends time for Abhishek Mohanty till Monday for joining A.P.
The HinduTelangana High Court on Thursday passed an interim direction extending the joining time for IPS officer Abhishek Mohanty, who had been allotted to Andhra Pradesh cadre, from that of Telangana. A bench of Justices Abhinand Kumar Shavili and E. Tirumala Devi issued this order after hearing a petition filed by the IPS officer challenging the Union Minister of Home Affairs’ order re-allocating his State cadre from Telangana to AP. The bench directed Additional Solicitor General B. Narasimha Sharma to secure instructions from the Centre if it would allow the IPS officer to continue in Telangana till adjudication of his petition. It noted that Mr. Abhishek Mohanty first served AP, then was allotted to Telangana before being re-allocated of cadre to AP, observing that it was akin to playing musical chairs.
