Bhima Koregaon violence accused activist Varavara Rao tests positive for coronavirus

Varavara Rao, activist and poet currently behind bars in connection with the Bhima Koregaon violence has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. "Rao is asymptomatic and has general weakness," Dr Makeshwar added saying that the jailed activist's condition is stable and he is being treated. "We are providing best health facilities to him and by late night he may be shifted to St George Hospital for further treatment," Dr Ranjeet Makeshwar said. Varavara Rao is one of 10 activists arrested initially by the Pune Police in connection with an alleged nexus between Elgar Parishad and Maoist outfits.
