Apart from fine art masterpieces by acclaimed Chinese artists active in every period of history, the museum's permanent collection also includes lively folk arts that still thrive across the country, such as clay figurines, paper cuts, and new year woodblock prints. Among the many donors to NAMOC were the German art collector couple Peter and Irene Ludwig, who generously donated 117 works by artists from Europe and the United States, including Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol and Gerhard Richter.
