Editors Guild calls out Rahul Gandhi over Modi interview, says attacking journalists a favourite tactic
The Editors Guild of India has issued a statement expressing concern over the growing practice of maligning journalists by labelling them. The statement came after a controversy broke out over Congress president Rahul Gandhi criticising journalist Smita Prakash, the editor of news agency ANI for her interview with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 1. In its statement, the Editors Guild expressed concern over Gandhi's statement, saying that while it believes journalists should claim no immunity from healthy and civilised criticism, at the same time their labelling has emerged as a "favourite tactic" on the part of the establishment to discredit, delegitimise and intimidate them.
