Fighting intensifies in eastern Congo
Andy Park: Unrest is spreading in the Democratic Republic of Congo after a deadly rebel offensive in the country's east. The rebel group responsible, M23, says it's taken control of the city, which borders with Rwanda. Kathleen Ferguson: Gunfire rings out on the streets of Goma as M23 rebel fighters ride on the back of trucks through the city. Shelley Thakral: Our colleagues in the Democratic Republic of the Congo report heavy small arms fire and mortar fire across the city and the presence of many dead bodies in the streets. Kathleen Ferguson: Speaking in Kinshasa, Shelley Thakral from the World Food Programme says the immediate aid implications of the offensive are serious.
