Report slams police as ‘unprofessional’ in Tyre Nichols beating
Al JazeeraOne officer is accused of sharing photos of the injured 29-year-old motorist who was pulled over without explanation. The officer in the United States who pulled 29-year-old Tyre Nichols from his car before police fatally beat him never explained why Nichols was being stopped, newly released documents show. Documents released on Tuesday by the Tennessee Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission blast the conduct of Demetrius Haley and four other officers as “blatantly unprofessional”. Nichols died three days later – the latest police killing to prompt nationwide protests and an intense public conversation about how police treat Black Americans. A woman also told the local WREG-TV news station that she tried to warn the Memphis Police Department about one of the officers, Haley, after an encounter on February 21, 2021.
