Uddhav Sena slams Centre over India's corruption ranking: BJP shelters corrupt

India Today

The Shiv Sena on Thursday took a dig at the central government after India was ranked among the 100 most corrupt nations in the world. In an editorial published in its mouthpiece Saamana, the Uddhav Thackeray-led party criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling his promise to eliminate corruption from the country “hollow.” According to the report, India now ranks 96th, compared to 93rd last year. Corruption in India is increasing day by day, and instead of being listed with honour, the country is being registered with disgrace among the most corrupt nations," said the editorial. The editorial further criticised the PM Modi government’s stand on corruption, saying, "The PM Modi government's proclamations about combating corruption have themselves succumbed to corruption, which is why India's name is being written in black coal in the list of corrupt nations." Shiv Sena mouthpiece also recalled PM Modi’s past statements, “When BJP comes, corruption runs away", saying PM Modi once gave the misleading slogan, ‘When BJP comes, corruption runs away’.
