Disney uses Ron DeSantis's own words against him in lawsuit
The TelegraphDisney is using quotes from Ron DeSantis’ own memoir in its lawsuit claiming he unfairly targeted the company as Florida governor. Disney’s legal team is boosting its case by quoting chunks of Mr DeSantis’s book, ‘The Courage to be Free” in its lawsuit. “Disney finds itself in this regrettable position because it expressed a viewpoint the governor and his allies did not like it told the US District Court for the Northern District of Florida.” ‘Anti-woke warrior’ Although the legislation ripping up the deal originated in the Florida legislature, Mr DeSantis boasted in his memoir how he orchestrated the move behind the scenes – boosting his standing as an “anti-woke” warrior. Disney had clearly crossed a line in its support of indoctrinating very young schoolchildren in woke gender identity politics.” Disney’s attack on what was dubbed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill was “a declaration of war” and “a textbook example of when a corporation should stay out of politics”, Mr DeSantis added. The Florida governor reiterated the political motive behind the legislation in an opinion piece he wrote in the Wall Street Journal, which was headlined, “Why I stood up to Disney”.
