WAEC to investigate ballot paper shortages and long queues on election day

ABC

The Western Australian Electoral Commission has promised a full and thorough investigation following widespread reports of ballot paper shortages and long queues at voting centres during Saturday's state election. "Our staff are focused on the count at the moment so that is my priority, and once the count is complete we will move into a more thorough investigation of the things like ballot paper movements during the day," Mr Kennedy said. 'Gross miscalculation' Voters lining up at the Shenton Park Community Centre were told there were no more ballot papers shortly before 3pm on Saturday, according to retiree Quentin Hall. "I've never seen so many people in my life queued to get into the Shenton Park Community Centre … which has been used as a voting centre for the past 20 years," Mr Hall said.
