Congress's Randeep Surjewala gets poll body notice over Hema Malini remarks
India TodayThe Election Commission of India on Tuesday issued a show-cause notice to senior Congress leader and MP Randeep Surjewala for making "vile, sexist" remarks against the actor-turned-politician and BJP's Mathura MP Hema Malini last week. The notice follows BJP complaint against the Congress general secretary with the poll panel for his "vulgar, sexist and disparaging public utterances" against Hema Malini while campaigning in Haryana. "Ensure that all party leaders and functionaries adhere to respectful public discourse, particularly towards women, during the election campaign," the poll panel said. A massive controversy broke out after BJP's IT department head Amit Malviya shared an undated video on X in which the Congress MP was heard making some objectionable remarks about Hema Malini.
