Ex-cop Pradeep Sharma met Sachin Vaze over extortion money sought by Anil Deshmukh: Lawyer tells Bombay HC

Advocate Abaad Ponda appearing for retired encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma told the Bombay High Court that the ex-cop had met the prime accused Sachin Vaze a few days before businessman Mansukh Hiran was found dead. During the arguments, Ponda said that it was never for the planning of the murder, but it was because Vaze was under tremendous pressure from the then home minister Anil Deshmukh to collect the extortion money that he had sought help from Sharma. According to Ponda, Sharma had even gone to the Mumbai police headquarters the next day for the same purpose and met the then Mumbai police Commissioner Param Bir Singh and Vaze. Ponda said that on March 2 Sharma was at police headquarters to meet Singh and Vaze, where allegedly Hiran had also reached.
