
Extra security camps to be established to tackle Maoists
The HinduAs part of a continued offensive against the Maoists, the Central security forces and police aim to establish 88 additional security camps in Left Wing Extremism affected States this year, a senior Home Ministry official said on Tuesday. The official added that since 2019, a total of 290 security camps have been set up in the LWE affected States, mostly in Chhattisgarh and Odisha. Since 2017-18, ₹3,503.29 crore has been released by the MHA under the Special Central Assistance scheme for the 12 most LWE affected districts. To improve connectivity in the 34 LWE affected districts in States of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh, the government approved a scheme called Road Requirement Plan - I under which the construction of 5,178 km road out of proposed 5,361 km road lengths has been completed.
