Labor unions file lawsuit to prevent DOGE from accessing sensitive data at U.S. agencies.
A coalition of labor unions filed a lawsuit Monday asking a federal court to stop Elon Musk’s team from accessing private data at the Education Department, the Treasury Department and the Office of Personnel Management. The AFT suit warns of safety risks to personal data that has been shared with Musk’s team, including an Education Department system housing information on more than 40 million Americans with federal student loans. The suit asks a federal court to stop Musk’s team from accessing that data along with Treasury systems and an OPM database with sensitive information on all 2.3 million federal employees. On Friday, a separate lawsuit on behalf of the University of California Student Association asked a federal judge in Washington to halt Musk’s access to Education Department systems.
