At 8 am, a tourist train departed from Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture in northeast China, its whistle echoing as it headed toward snow-covered Changbai Mountain. In Longjing, Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture in Jilin province, a tourist train connecting Changbai Mountain with Yanji, reveals part of the region's strategy to integrate the railway and tourism. First launched in July, the train departs early in the morning from Yanbian prefecture, its whistle echoing as it heads toward snow-covered Changbai Mountain. The train provides a unique cultural experience with live performances, including gayageum music, drum dances, demonstrations of folk crafts, intangible heritage opportunities to sample local cuisine.
