MGMGH adds new machine to hemodialysis unit

The Hindu

The hemodialysis unit of the Department of Nephrology and Urology at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital in Tiruchi has received a new dialysis machine through Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation and is in the process of acquiring four more as part of the facility’s expansion plans, officials said on Tuesday. “The hemodialysis unit treats approximately 50 patients per day, and is one of the busiest in the hospital. “Though diabetics form a major part of our patients, the unit also receives others in need of short-term or emergency treatment for kidney diseases. MGMGH will be adding beds and waiting areas for attenders who accompany patients to the hemodialysis unit, Dr. Kumaravel said.
