
Vengaivayal case: Villagers stage sit-in protest as police restrict movement

We demand permission to join the protests outside.” As against the usual team of police personnel deployed for security every day, more than 150 police personnel, under the supervision of Pudukkottai ADSP M Muralitharan, were stationed in the village on Saturday at seven key locations, including three major checkpoints surrounding Vengaivayal. Separately, the lawyers’ wing of the VCK submitted a petition at the Vellanur Police Station, seeking permission to enter the village, claiming that the SC villagers required legal aid. Speaking to reporters in Pudukkottai, K. Balakrishnan, Central Committee member and former State secretary of the Communist Party of India, strongly condemned the restrictions imposed by the police on the movement of Vengaivayal residents.
