
Development projects worth ₹98.79 crore undertaken in Mecheri block, says Salem Collector
The HinduDevelopment projects worth ₹98.79 crore have been taken up in Mecheri block over the past three and a half years, Salem District Collector, R. Brindha Devi, said on Tuesday. On Tuesday, the Collector inspected ongoing projects at the Mecheri block, including the construction of a lab building and new classrooms at Vazhadasampatti government higher secondary school at a cost of ₹17.88 lakh and ₹34.60 lakh respectively, construction of a new tank in Vazhadasampatti at ₹13.81 lakh, overhead water tank construction at ₹29.70 lakh in M. Kalipatti, the construction of houses under the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam scheme in Olapatti panchayat, the construction of a compound wall at ₹12 lakh in the M. Kalipatti panchayat union primary school, and the repairing of old houses under Rural Buildings Maintenance and Renovation Scheme at Kuttapatti panchayat. The State Government is implementing various welfare schemes for the public, said the Collector, and added that inspections are conducted to ensure that these schemes reach people at the right time. “In the past three and a half years, 3,113 projects have been taken up in Mecheri block at a cost of ₹98.79 crore, of which 2,368 works have been completed.
