Local staff working at inoperative Indian post in Afghanistan attacked: Sources
India TodayAn Afghan staff member working for the inoperative Indian consulate was attacked in Afghanistan's Jalalabad on Tuesday, sources told India Today TV. The Indian Consulate in Jalalabad has remained largely non-operational since 2020, when the Indian government decided to shut down its full-scale operations amidst security concerns. India, which has invested millions of dollars in development projects across Afghanistan during former President Ashraf Ghani's regime, closed all its consulates in 2021, after the Talibani forces started capturing major parts of the country following the withdrawal of the US Army. However, New Delhi has been providing humanitarian aid, including wheat, medicines and medical supplies, to the Afghan people from time to time.
