Cong. leaders urge CM to release ₹150 crore for implementation of Kabini phase 2 and 3 schemes

Congress leaders M. Lakshman and H.V. Rajeev urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to release ₹150 crore to implement Kabini phase 2 and 3 schemes, which would ensure an additional 120 MLD of water for Mysuru and its surrounding regions. In a recent representation submitted to the Chief Minister in Bengaluru, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Mr. Lakshman and former Mysuru Urban Development Authority Chairman Mr. Rajeev pointed out that the implementation of the Kabini drinking water scheme, which has a total capacity of 180 MLD, began with an allocation of ₹110 crore under the National Urban Renewal Mission during the previous United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre. If another ₹150 crore is released by the State government, phases 2 and 3 of the Kabini scheme can be implemented to ensure water supply to the newly developed residential layouts on the outskirts of Mysuru and areas falling under the limits of Srirampura, Kadakola, and Bogadi town panchayats, as well as Varuna, Chamundeshwari, Nanjangud, and H.D. In the interest of the residents of Mysuru, the Chief Minister should grant ₹150 crore for the implementation of Kabini phase 2 and 3 schemes so that the full capacity of drinking water supply of 180 MLD can be realised, the representation said.
