Five years later, what do Tomas Hertl and Martin Biron remember about that iconic between-the-legs goal? Plenty
New York TimesIn March 2014, goalie Martin Biron had been retired for a few months and working with the television network MSG in New York when a Rangers staffer approached him to sign one of his old sticks. “I was in the locker room and Woody had some things for me., ‘Hey, Tomas, I’ve got something for you here.’ I was like, ‘What is it?’ it was goalie stick from Marty Biron, because you finished his career,” Hertl said Thursday. “Our bench were going to gun for him, obviously, because it’s 8-2, he scored four goals, and he’s celebrating like he just won the Stanley Cup,” Biron said. “A lot of fans I never are like, ‘I still remember five years ago that goal you scored against the Rangers,’” Hertl said. At some point, though, Hertl plans on building a house, and “ probably going to do some little room where there will be like all trophies and stuff, and I’ll probably hang it there and keep it there.” But is it the actual stick that Biron was holding when Hertl scored the goal?
