MP: Man thrashed to death; cop trying to rescue him killed in mob attack

Bhopal: A mob of tribals in a Madhya Pradesh village abducted and killed a man suspecting him to be the murderer of a member of their community and later lynched a cop who tried to rescue him, police said on Sunday. Two people including an assistant sub-inspector of police died and several other policemen sustained minor injuries in the incident, according to Rewa Range Deputy Inspector General of police Saket Pandey. According to the police, a group of Kol tribals abducted one Sunny Dwivedy suspecting him to be the murderer of one Ashok Kumar and thrashed him to death after confining him in a room. After getting a tip off on the incident, a police team led by the Shahpur police station house officer Sandeep Bhartiya rushed to the village to rescue Dwivedy.
