Family of original Snowy Hydro Scheme worker continues his legacy

ABC

When a young Charlie Salvestro was faced with the prospect of moving to either Australia or Canada from Italy in the early 1950s, the choice was a no-brainer. So Charlie can still remember his surprise when faced with the "very cold" New South Wales Snowy Mountains weather upon his arrival in Australia. Charlie's family moved to Australia for his father to work on the Snowy Hydro Scheme in the 1950s. The Salvestro family moved to the NSW alps to work on Australia's largest-ever engineering project: the Snowy Hydro Electric Scheme. Sinclair's sister Bella also works for Snowy Hydro in a project services administrative role, and Sinclair said the two of them were keeping his Nonno's legacy alive.
