Off-duty police officers’ camping trip erupts in gunfire; one injured, another in custody
LA TimesA Los Angeles police officer has been booked on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly shooting another off-duty officer early Sunday morning while camping in Apple Valley in San Bernardino County, authorities said. Officer Ismael Tamayo, a 13-year veteran of the LAPD, was booked by the county Sheriff’s Department in connection with the 1 a.m. shooting at the Stoddard Wells Off-Highway Vehicle Area, Los Angeles police said in a statement. San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies responding to a shooting call found one of three off-duty LAPD officers at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body, authorities said. “The department is fully cooperating with the San Bernardino County sheriff’s office in their criminal investigation,” officials said.
