NFAI Says it Has Acquired Rare Footage of Meena Kumari's 'Pakeezah'

The National Film Archive of India on Wednesday said they have obtained a rare footage of Meena Kumari-starrer Pakeezah, including the visuals of the popular song ‘Inhin Logon Ne’. NFAI said that that they have added a rare 18-minute footage in 16mm of the making of Kamal Amrohi’s iconic film. The footage also contains a Mohammed Rafi’s qawwali number ‘Jaye Toh Jaye Kaha, Ab Ye Tera Deewana’, which was not included in the released film, it said. Known as the tragedy queen of Bollywood, Meena Kumari made her debut as a child-artist in 1939 with Leatherface and mesmerized the audience with her performance in films like Bachchon Ka Khel, Baiju Bawra, Parineeta, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Kaajal, Pakeezah, Mere Apne, Dil Apna Aur Preet Parai, Dil Ek Mandir, among others.
