Killjoy fire chiefs want you to steer clear of the booze until after Christmas dinner is served. Cooking, Christmas lights, new electronics and alcohol make potent fire risks, experts say All were technically 'false alarms'. Bosses at the National Fire Chiefs Council say you should always call 999 if you suspect a fire – even if it does amount to nothing. A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: 'Christmas is a time of year where families and friends gather to celebrate the holiday season, with households full and kitchens busy. 'With so much going on, it is also a time of year which can see greater fire risks around the kitchen, as people congregate, alcohol is consumed, and distractions are abundant.
