Disbursal of tuition reimbursement funds by Minorities department left wanting for several years

The Minorities Welfare department’s track record of releasing fee reimbursement funds, known as the reimbursement of tuition fee, to students has been found to be wanting since academic year 2022-23, with no students covered in the current AY. In successive years, since AY 2020-21 till AY 2024-25, the disbursal of funds to students was lower as compared to each preceding year. Data obtained through a Right to Information request, filed by activist S Q Masood, showed that none of the over 1.21 lakh students who had applied for fee reimbursement received funds. The case in AY 2022-23 was slightly better with 7,927 receiving reimbursement of the over 1.63 lakh students who had applied.
