
No fresh case reported from Rajouri’s Badhal village in past three days: Principal Prof. A.K. Bhatia
The HinduBhatia, principal of the Government Medical College, Rajouri, on Monday said no fresh cases of mysterious illness were reported at Badhal village since the impacted population was shifted and containment dozens were formed on January 22. In a first breakthrough since multiple waves of deaths from December 7, 2024, left 17 locals died and around 31 affected, Dr. Bhatia said, “An analysis of the nine patients who were admitted in December at the hospital, in which five survived, showed that those patients who were treated with atropine responded positively.” The senior doctor said no locals complained of illness from Badhal village in the past three days. On January 22 evening, the Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, decided to relocate close contacts and high-risk contacts of affected families from Badhal village to the Nursing College and GMC, Rajouri, besides containment zones were also formed of the village. However, the Special Investigation Teams, set up by the J&K government and the Centre, have not commented on the remarks made by the Rajouri medical college’s principal.
