Narrow escape for ‘inebriated’ men lying on railway track
The HinduTwo persons who reportedly fell into the railway track between Aluva and Angamaly in an allegedly inebriated condition had a miraculous escape on Saturday night as the loco pilot of Shalimar Express, which was speeding towards Thrissur, applied emergency brakes. The Railway Police Force, Aluva, registered a case against Anandan and Arun Shinde, natives of Maharashtra, under the provisions of the Railways Act for causing danger or obstruction in a public way. The loco driver, Anwar Husain, from Kayamkulam, spotted them on the track—one lying down while the other sat close to the line—about 10 minutes after the train had left Aluva station. The two remained crouched without lifting their head as the loco driver and his assistant rushed out of their cabin.
