Nursing college ragging case: KSU protest at Secretariat turns violent in Kerala capital

Scores of Kerala Students Union activists attempted to besiege the government Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday protesting against the “brutalisation” of a student of the Government College of Nursing in Kottayam recently. The police fired water cannons several times to deter the KSU activists from rushing at the law enforcement barricades in front of the gates. The KSU had previously accused a Students Federation of India affiliate in the Kottayam nursing college of ragging a student. The KSU also accused the nursing college staff of ignoring “routine mistreatment” of junior students in the hostel.
