New laws to crack down on 'claim farming' scammers, who on-sell your private information

The Queensland Government has announced plans for new laws to crack down on "claim farming" scammers, on-selling people's private information to solicitors. "I would get a phone call at least once a day, now it's about solar panels … all these little calls tend to add up to the stress that you don't really need," he said. "The Law Society has come out strongly against claim farming and we've been working closely with MAIC to put together proposals that would work towards stopping claim farming," Mr Taylor said. What to do if you get a call Don't respond to numbers supplied in an automated call Delete any messages left on voicemail Speak to someone you trust about the scam call "It's a practice that we see happen and it's starting to increase, and while it's not at the stage its reached in other states, we want to stop it now," Mr Taylor said.
