Would fail mandate if corruption charges against Anil Deshmukh not probed: CBI tells HC
India TodayThe Central Bureau of Investigation told the Bombay High Court on Wednesday that it would be failing in its mandate if it did not investigate all the issues related to the corruption case against former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh. Mehta said there was a specific allegation in former Mumbai Police commissioner Param Bir Singh's letter that there are large scale malpractices in the state home minister's office related to transfers. Dada’s argument has been that Bombay High Court did not pass the order seeking CBI preliminary enquiry in Param Bir Singh's petition but it was passed on Jaishri Patil’s petition. Param Bir Singh had leveled an allegation of corruption against Deshmukh in a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and had filed a petition before the Bombay High Court as well.
