Medchal Collector Gets Summons in Contempt Case
HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Tuesday summoned Medchal collector Amoy Kumar, in charge of Hyderabad district, in a contempt case over failure to pay compensation to land oustees. When Kumar was a Hyderabad collector last year, the High Court had directed him to pay compensation to certain persons whose land was acquired in 2001. Dasharath Mohanlal and others filed a writ petition in the High Court in 2001 claiming that they were not given any compensation in connection with the acquisition of 44,359.66 square yards of land in Bapunagar in Survey No.s 58, 59, 60 of SR Nagar, Hyderabad. A division bench dismissed the appeal filed by the collector in July 2022 and ordered him to implement the orders given by the single judge within four weeks.
