Dow closes 250 points higher, S&P 500 hits record
CNNNew York CNN Business — The Dow rallied into market close and the S&P 500 set a new closing record Thursday, one day after the Federal Reserve indicated it could cut interest rates soon. President Donald Trump said at the White House Thursday afternoon “you’ll soon find out” whether the United States intended to strike Iran. As the central bank’s dovish messaging continues to drive interest rates lower, it’s inoculating investors from other risks as the cost of capital and competition from bonds both fall,” said Alec Young, Managing Director of Global Markets Research, FTSE Russell, at the start of the trading day. At Wednesday’s Fed meeting, Chairman Jerome Powell reiterated that the central bank would “act as appropriate” to sustain economic growth in the United States.
