Supreme Court Directs Examination Of Ex-Chief Of Popular Front At AIIMS To Consider Medical Grounds For Bail
Live LawThe Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the All India Institute of Medical Sciences to constitute a medical team for a thorough examination of E Abubacker, the former Chairman of the banned outfit Popular Front of India, to ascertain if he deserved bail on medical grounds. A bench comprising Justices MM Sundresh and Aravind Kumar directed that Abubacker be taken to AIIMS within a period of two days and be admitted as an in-patient for the examination. In the order, the bench observed : "The petitioner shall be taken to AIIMS within a period of 2 days from today and the detailed examination will have to be conducted as an in-patient after due admission within a further period of 4 days thereafter. The bench said that she could file the rejoinder but clarified that it would not consider the merits of the matter, except the medical grounds.
